As with pretty much everything else in the city, eating out in New York is full of choices. New York's many neighbourhoods can offer everything from authentic Chinese food, eating with locals, through to Italian meatballs and outstanding pasta on to exclusive cuisine where tables are booked years in advance and if you need to ask how much it costs you really can't afford it.
Then of course there are the many cafes and fast food outlets that are available by the thousand. A hotdog stand is never far away, and the same applies to the doughnut. Although these may not seem to be the most nourishing options available they are another of those New York experiences that should be included in any trip.
With over 25,000 restaurants in New York City the choice is truly immense, so the best advice is to check out the restaurant guides available from newstands, see where the locals eat and really savour each moment.
