New York City is probably the most easily recognised city in the world owing to its popular media coverage through films and television. It is also, with over 8 million inhabitants, one of the largest, and certainly the largest in the USA.
It has always been a melting pot of diverse cultures, being a major gateway for immigrants who settled here upon arrival, creating the city it has now become. The most well known part of New York for visitors is Manhattan, the face of New York to many and also the focal point for the strong economy that drives the city forwards. However New York is made up of five different boroughs. They are, in addition to Manhattan; Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island. Each has it's own merit within the city as a whole, complete with their own personalities.
Of course Manhattan is where most visitors spend their time, and it really isn't surprising since there are so many different attractions there. From walking down Fifth Avenue shopping through to visiting the iconic Times Square or maybe seeing a show on Broadway.
The list of attractions in New York seems never ending and it is really down to the visitor to decide beforehand what they want to put on their itinerary.
